Sakura Artwork

A bunch of the student's Sakura artwork went straight home, but some of them made it back to the Atelier so I was able to take some photographs of them. Here they are:

                                                                           Amelie

                                                                            Amelie

                                                                            Sumika

Ryosuke (This is great. A brown cherry tree is in the middle and there is a red blossom on it. There are 2 people having their hanami party on either side of the tree and a green dinosaur has joined them for the fun!)

Here is my quick watercolour sketch. I certainly didn't have time to talk with everyone and paint at the same time, but it was fun nonetheless.

Ohanami Invitation

Hello to everyone! Some of you I’ve seen recently and some for a longer time, but I hope everyone is doing very well. Last year saw our first Christmas Party and this year we would like to have our first Atelier Hanami Party! The early cherry trees are already in blossom and most of them are ready to pop, so I thought it best to hold this next Saturday April 7. Hopefully this will be near the peak of the blossoms and hopefully the weather will get a little bit warmer. If it rains we will have it on the following day, Sunday April 8. We will be meeting in Arisugawa Park from 2pm until night. The closest station is Hiroo. From the entrance closest to Hiroo you will follow the path beside the pond up the hill to a big open space. Behind this big open space is a ring of Sakura trees that surround a beautiful statue of a little boy. Here is a map of the park (in Japanese) : http://jin3.jp/annai/arisugawa-map.htm We will be where it says

“笛を吹く少年像”

I have just tried to make my first “Google Map” It is at the end of this message!

Please give me a call to in case you can’t find us: (080) 4177-6776

I will reserve us a spot early in the morning, but please let me know if you would like to attend, so I have a general idea as to who is coming. I will get some small things to eat and drink, but please bring things to eat and drink to share with everyone. Also please bring your sketchbooks or anything you would like so that we can draw and paint the sakura! I will have materials for the children (but bring those sketchbooks) Adults please bring anything that you would like to use.

Looking forward to seeing everyone,

Craig & Romeo

Hello everybody and welcome to the first Ebisu Atelier d’Art newsletter!

We have had a busy start to the year. Now it is almost March, it is raining, the plums are already blossoming, but still I want to say Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who came out to our Christmas party last year. The food was great, and it was nice to meet each other and to share some of the work that we have been doing here. I have put some pictures up on the Atelier Blog so take a look and feel free to leave comments there. www.ebisart.blogspot.com I will be trying to use the Blog more often so check it out from time to time. We will also certainly be planning more events this year.

I have been busy updating the Adult Student Work on our website and will soon start to update the Children Student Work as well, so if you have not seen it recently please take a look.

I also wanted to let everyone know about the fantastic exhibition that is currently happening at the Yokohama Museum of Art of Fuyoko Matsui’s paintings. It will be closing on March 18 so there is still time to see it. www.yaf.or.jp/yma/jiu/2011/matsuifuyuko/english/outline.html

Christmas Party and Student Exhibition

Ok I still don't know where to begin a blog. Am I supposed to begin at the top or the bottom? It might be the bottom. Well It has only been more than 2 years since I put the first post into this blog and here I am finally with a second post. I wanted to finally put up some pictures that I took of the students, friends and family that came out on Saturday December 10th for our Christmas Party and Student exhibition. I think I can say that we all had a great time. Unfortunately I was running around so much that I didn't take any pictures of the student work! Well a lot of it you can see on the website in the student galleries there. I will try to be a better photographer as well as host next time! There were some people like Kohei and Azuki who had to leave early and I wasn't able to snap a picture of them in time. Thanks to everyone who came out. Thanks to Marche Aux Puces for the great food. We will certainly have to have more events and parties this year. I will try to get some of my 2 years of backlogged photos up onto this blog. Happy belated new year to everyone who I haven't seen yet this year!
